Bom dia a todos,

Desculpe se estou postando no lugar errado, mais sou novo aqui, estou com o seguinte problema possui uma placa mãe com Chipser H61 e com a placa de rede Atheros Communications Inc. AR8161 Gigabit Ethernet, porem não consigo fazer ela conectar a internet rodei o comando lspci –v no terminal e ele me deu as informações a seguir, mais não consigo ativa la, alguém pode me ajudar? pois nesta maquina estou sem acesso a internet, e se for necessario instalar algum driver tera que ser offline estou utilizando o Ubuntu 12.10 64bits

Eu estava com o mesmo problema que você, no final do ano troquei de PC e estava sem conseguir usar rede atheros. Como tenho algumas placas wifi usb e uma foi reconhecida de primeira, não tentei mais resolver o problema.
Porém nesse instante já lhe escrevo com a Atheros funcionando.
PS: minha placa mãe é Gigabyte H77M-D3H, mas a placa de rede é a mesma.
O meu Linux é o Mint Maya (13 64bit).

A minha solução veio desta página:

baixei o arquivo: https://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/backports/2013/03/04/compat-drivers-2013-03-04-u.ta...

eu fiz:
tar -xf com*
cd com*
./scripts/driver-select alx
make
sudo make install

no final do driver-select tem a mensagem:

************************************************************
Now run:

sudo make unload to unload all: wireless, bluetooth and ethernet modules
sudo make wlunload to unload wireless modules
sudo make btunload to unload bluetooth modules

Run sudo modprobe driver-name to load your desired driver.
If unsure reboot.
************************************************************

eu dei:
sudo make wunload
sudo modprobe alx

pronto. reconheceu a placa, pegou endereço via dhcp e eu removi a placa wifi usb.
