Simples, mas não aprece!
Tenho um notebook com a placa de vídeo optimus.
retorno do nvidia-detect:

Pois bem... quando instalo driver nvidia-legacy-304, o gdm fica na famosa black-screen, mesmo configurando o xorg.conf com tudo certo.

Alguém pode me ajudar? Pois o driver está aparentemente instalado e funcionando. Não quero usar o bumblebee(pois testo o optirun e o fps continua o mesmo do intel).

Amigo , tente pelo proprio site : http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=pt-br

Baixe o arquivo ".run" , de permissão de execução (chmod 777 nome.run) e execute como superusuario (sudo ./nome.run).

Perdão Thihup, mas foi a primeira coisa que fiz depois de ter instalado o driver legacy-304xx...
A questão é: Tem como utilizá-lo como VGA primário e pronto?
Pois com bumblebee, ele instala o nvidia 340.46.5 do repositório debian que por sua vez não da suporte ao modelo GT 540M.(This version only supports GeForce 8xxx and higher of the Geforce GPUs
plus corresponding Quadros and nforce. Look at the legacy packages
for older cards.)

Tanto com o legacy quando o NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-340.58.run(recomendado da nvidia). O GDM não inicia.

Atualmente estou com bumblebee, só que com o driver nvidia-legacy como padrão( update-alternatives --configure nvidia ).
Ambiente gráfico abre tranquilo com o intel, mas quando executo comandos com o optirun, mesmo habilitando o driver não se vê melhora alguma de desempenho gráfico. As taxas de FPS são as mesmas do intel graphics.

Como driver primário acredito que somente com o ubuntu. com o nividia-prime.Qdo instala o ubuntu.

Enquanto isso é ir ficando no VGA intel mesmo.
