E lá no artigo também diz que pode ser problema do próprio hardware.
Isso só acontece no Debian, ou em outras distros o note ficava desse jeito também? Teste fazer um dual-boot com uma distro que aceite drivers propietários por padrão (tipo, Ubuntu) e verifique se o comportamento persiste.

Em outras distros tambem... o problema se apresentou tambem com o Mint. Não sei se o Mint aceita drivers proprietarios(pesquisei e não encontrei a resposta), mas por ser derivado do Ubuntu eu estou achando que sim. Se não for, tu achas que se eu instalar um Ubuntu pode resolver o problema? Não sou muito fã da interface grafica do Ubuntu, mas se for o caso, me conformo e passo a usa-la...
O meu note não tem placa de video dedicada, nem nenhum hardware mais especifico... quero dizer que ele é um hp padrão e basicão. i5 com 4gb de ram e 1tb de hdd.
A placa de rede wifi so trabalha em 2.4ghz. Ou seja.... não tem nada que demande um driver mais refinado e especifico para funcionar... não sei se isso tem alguma coisa a ver, mas enfim....

Ainda em relação a busca de software proprietario rodei o comando "vrms" e o resultado foi o seguinte:

Bem, primeiramente, o Ubuntu tem flavours com diferentes interfaces (DEs), caso queira testar um dia.
E parece que a instalação do microcode teve sucesso. Achei que isso iria sanar o problema. Você pode por favor executar outro "journalctl" e postar aqui?
Sobre o Mint, ele aceita drivers propietários sim (acho que é no mesmo esquema que o Ubuntu), mas se teve problema nele (e sendo o mesmo baseado no Ubuntu), acredito que vá ter os mesmos problemas no Ubuntu e outras baseadas nele.
Sinceramente, você até poderia testar o Manjaro (que sai da base Debian), mas acho que deve ser alguma coisa no seu hardware...um defeito...
Há quanto tempo isso começou, aproximadamente? Foi depois de alguma alteração no hardware? Se sim, qual? Você ouve algum barulho fora do comum no seu notebook? Quantos anos de uso ele tem?
Desculpe pelo questionário, mas não consigo pensar em mais nada =|

Pode ser algum processo em segundo plano que toma todo o processador e trava a máquina.... Ou mesmo algo aberto que consome toda a RAM.... Estava acontecendo comigo com o Facebook, tenho 4GB de RAM e algumas vezes o Facebook consumia tudo o que tinha disponível, travando tudo...

Agora... ao meu ver, se quando você usa a máquina não tem problema nenhum e só aparece quando você para de usar, pra mim é algo ligado ao gerenciamento de energia....

Agora... ao meu ver, se quando você usa a máquina não tem problema nenhum e só aparece quando você para de usar, pra mim é algo ligado ao gerenciamento de energia....


Bem notado, pode ser o gerenciamento de energia, e nesse caso eu pesquisaria bastante, pra ver se não é algo do sistema operacional em si, e levaria numa assistência técnica, se for de hardware.
Caso seja durante o uso, rode um
sudo apt install htop 

para instalar o htop, que monitora o uso de recursos por processos do sistema
htop 

E você poderá tirar suas conclusões

Meus Laptops (Dell, Itautec, Lenovo, Acer) 100% Intel que travaram usando mate e Xfce estavam com problema de HDD ou memória...

Esse problema já tem uns meses... acho que uns 6 ou mais... tem piorado com o passar do tempo... inclusive foi uma das razões de eu mudar do Mint pro do Debian.
O note não esta apresentando nenhum barulho anormal. As mudanças de hardware foram todas após a apresentação do problema e foram realizadas na tentativa de sanar o problema após testes de hardware. No caso um erro em um dos pentes de memoria que antes do problema eram 2 de 4gb cada e o teste acusou erro em um deles, que foi removido mas não resolveu o problema. Após isso executei um teste no HDD que originalmente era de 500gb e acusou um erro e foi substituido por outro de 1tb. Mesmo asim o problema persiste. Vale salientar que após a remoção do pente de memoria e da troca do hdd os testes não acusam mais erro de hdd ou memoria.
Esse notebook esta com mais ou menos uns 6 ou 7 anos de uso.
Quanto as perguntas, por favor, fiquem a vontade de faze-las, afinal o objetivo é tentar decifrar o que esta acontecendo, e sem os questionamentos isso fica impossivel. Não me importo de forma alguma em rodar quaisquer comandos ou testes que vocês sugerirem.

para instalar o htop, que monitora o uso de recursos por processos do sistema
htop 

E você poderá tirar suas conclusões

Pois é, eu suspeitei da questão do gerenciamento de energia, mas meu notebook não permite o desligamento da ACPI via BIOS. Tentei utilizar a opção acpi=off nas opções de inicialização do GRUB mas o pc não inicializa com ela.
Tentei usar também a opção intel_idle.max_cstate=1. Com ela o pc inicializou normalmente, porém apresentou o travamento da mesma forma.

Instalei o htop e estou monitorando para ver se ele acusa alguma coisa. até agora está tudo normal.

Uma duvida: Existe algum arquivo de log ou algo parecido que eu poderia monitorar quanto a algum possivel erro que levasse a esse travamento? Pergunto pois todos os logs que vocês solicitaram até agora so contem registros de boot ou com entradas anteriores ao horario do travamento.
Se não houver outro log ou algo parecido, será que isso não seria um indicativo que o problema está realmente relacionado ao hardware?

A maioria dos travamentos acontece realmente quando deixo o pc de lado, mas nem sempre... já aconteceu mais de uma vez dele travar durante o uso. Uma das vezes estava rodando uma maquina virtual com o Windows 10 fazendo uma atualização extensiva. Depois de mais ou menos umas 2 horas rodando o pc travou.
Em outra situação estava assistindo um video em formato .mkv usando o SMplayer e do nada o pc travou. Nesse momento não havia mais nada rodando.

Inicialmente eu estava com um pente de memoria e o hdd com problema. Mas isso já foi resolvido. Inclusive já formatei e reinstalei o sistema do zero após essas mudanças.

P.S.: Não sei qual a relevancia dessa informação, mas noto que após rodar a maquina virtual com Windows 10 o meu pc fica mais lento e menos responsivo por algum tempo após o desligamento da mesma... Coisa de uns 15 a 20 minutos após desligar a maquina virtual. Após esse tempo o pc volta a responder normalmente. Lembrando que os travamentos independem de rodar ou não o VirtualBox.

Estava tendo problemas com performance e desempenho, descobri que era o uso de swap que estava alto, resolvi diminuindo o valor de swappiness.
Você pode testar isso, quando o PC começar a ficar lento verifique o uso de memória e de swap:
free -m

Se está usando muita Swap é porque está faltando memória RAM... Melhor espetar mais um pente de 8 GB... Swap é quebra galho... Na minha opinião

Nesse exato momento estou com a maquina virtual rodando o Windows 10 fazendo uma atualização, Chrome aberto, Terminal e rodando um video .mkv no SmPlayer e o resultado do free -m é:

Sendo que raramente uso tanta coisa ao mesmo tempo. Na verdade esse é o maximo de carga que eventualmente rodo.

Tenho 8GB e na ocasião estava usando +- 1,5GB de RAM e a Swap estava no talo (2gb de Swap), tirando raras ocasiões em que rogo algum jogo pesado meu uso de RAM não chega aos 4GB, também acho que Swap é quebra galho mas quanto mais puder evitar usa-la melhor.
