Acho que o Ubuntu 17.04 não tem mais suporte.
Instale o 17.10 ou então o 16.04 que é o LTS e terá suporte até 2021.

1704 já está sem suporte por isso não vai atualizar
Instale 1604 que terá suporte até abril 2021

Olá pe..pe..pe...pessoal,
Somente consegui resolver o problema no repositório do ubuntu apontando dentro do SOURCE.LIST o caminho abaixo, no meu caso estou usando o Ubuntu Zesty, mas caso esteja com o mesmo problema e sua versão não seja atualizada, só altere o nome ZESTY pelo da sua versão.

Erro: The repository 'http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu zesty Release' does not have a Release file.

Edição do arquivo: sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ zesty main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ zesty-updates main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ zesty-security main restricted universe multiverse

# Optional
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ zesty-backports main restricted universe multiverse

Após isso, CTRL+O -> "ENTER" -> CTRL+X

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

Na data deste post, a última atualização do repositório pelo ubuntu foi em 16.01.2018

Espero ter ajudado, pois quebrei muito a cabeça e não queria em hipótese alguma reinstalar meu S.O.

-se quer usar ubuntu use versões lts que tem suporte por 5 anos e evite esse tipo de aborrecimento
