Nvidia no Debian Squeeze?? [RESOLVIDO]

Então meu filho, reinicie pra ver se o módulo é gerado e se funciona, se não funcionar verifique seu xorg.conf:

# cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Eu reiniciei e não funfo e travo o xorg ai eu tive que dar:

#cp /etx/X11/xorg.conf.backup /etc/X11/xorg.conf

para recuperar.

Cara, o erro não está no Squeeze, está em ter usado aquele repositório do Debian Unstable lá no início.

Você tem 3 possibilidades que já falei, reinstalar, migrar os repositórios pro SID/Unstable ou mesclar Testing/Unstable.

Reinstalando (mas usando somente os repositórios do Squeeze) você verá que é muito simples instalar a Nvidia seja pelo repositório ou mesmo pelo binário da Nvidia.

Faça como o 'edps' sugeriu.

Não é uma boa misturar repositórios.

No seu caso para não perder muito tempo na aprendizagem depois de fazer mer** reinstale e tente o que nosso 'camagada'(rsrsrs) disse.

Ola pessoal,

Após passar por todas essas dificuldades para instalar o driver da Nvidia, resolvi baixar uma imagem do Squeeze e á instalei em meu PC porém mesmo com essas dicas não consigo instalar o driver!

Eu instalo o build-essential linux-headers-`uname -r` nvidia-kernel-dkms nvidia-settings nvidia-xconfig module-assistant

e tbm o nvidia-glx eu consigo instalar numa boa

O Problema está no comando nvidia-xconfig!! que dá isso:

Using X configuration file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf".

VALIDATION ERROR: Data incomplete in file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Device section "Configured Video Device" must have a Driver
line.

Ele gera um novo xorg mas ao reiniciar o PC dá erro daí eu tenho que recorrer ao xorg.backup para voltar!!

Eu já tentei instalar pelo sgfxi -c e tbm deu erro e tbm tentei instalar pelo driver baixada da Nvidia um arquivo .run e deu esse erro:

error:the Nouveau kernel driver is currently in use by your system this driver is incompatible with the Nvidia driver and must be disable before proceding please the Nvidia driver readme in your linux distribuition.

Alguém sabe o que faço??

diz que não há driver definido na seção 'Configured Video Device', o qual você deve informar um desses: nvidia, nv, nouveau, vesa.

Então edps, eu fiz conforme vc falou e quando reiniciei o PC não subiu o X ai tive que recorrer ao xorg.backup.

Você pode me ajudar a configurar o xorg?

Reinicie o PC e baixe o binário da Nvidia:

$ wget -c http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/173.14.28/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-173.14.28-pkg2.run
$ chmod +x NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-173.14.28-pkg2.run

Ctrl + ALT + F1

$ su <senha-do-root>
# /etc/init.d/gdm3 stop ### porque no Squeeze é GDM3
# cd caminho-da-pasta-onde-esta-o-instalador
# ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-173.14.28-pkg2.run -a ### para aceitar o contrato

Se aparecer uma mensagem perguntando se quer abortar a instalação, responda Não.

Ao concluir o instalador lhe perguntará se deseja rodar o nvidia-xconfig, reponda SIM e ao concluir:

# /etc/init.d/gdm3 start

O Estranho é que eu já tinha feito isso por outro tutorial e não tinha funcionado!! deve ser por causa do:
