Teclado não funciona direito

E ai galera blz!
Eu sei que esse não é o lugar certo, mas como todas as vezes que preciso vocês sempre me ajudam, então estou aqui de novo.


O meu notebook hp g42-374br toda vez que vai ligar tem que pressionar a tecla esc, senão ele não liga, o problema é que justamente está tecla junto com várias outras e o touch pad pararam de funcionar do nada, ai eu entrei no site do fabricante e comprei outro teclado zero e coloquei nele e mesmo assim continuou com o mesmo problema. Resultado, comprei um mouse e um teclado de pc e estou usando normalmente pela entrada usb, só que é muito chato usar notebook com periféricos externos e depois, eu preciso andar com ele para cima e pra baixo por causa do trabalho.
Resumindo, tem solução e se tem, como faço para resolver.

Creio que reinstalar o SO resolve. Qual versão você está usando?

Abre um terminal, roda o comando

$ xev 

Vai aparecer uma sopa de letrinhas, normal, e então fique apertando o esc e preste atenção no código numérico que aparecer. Poste ele aqui e a gente continua.

Uso Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
Reinstalar o SO não resolvi, porque já fiz isso em uma máquina virtual de testes (VirtualBox), inclusive com distros diferente e o próprio windows, só para ter certeza e deu na mesma.

Cara, parece que seu Unity está bagunçado com relação aos atalhos de teclado dele. Como eu não uso isso, pesquisa aí como ver quais os atalhos o seu Unity está usando e então reconfigure na mão. Alternativamente, tenta

$ mkdir ~/backup

$ mv ~/.* ~/backup 

Se ainda assim não funcionar, tente

 # dpkg-reconfigure --all 

Nos dois casos o reinício do computador pode ser necessário, nos dois casos você vai perder todas as suas configurações personalizadas pro sistema (mas pelo menos tem o backup dessas configurações no diretório ~/backup, caso não resolva).

É seguramente imcompatibilidade com drivers proprietários. Notes hp geralmente dão este tipo de trabalho como os de vídeos também. Tive este problema e a solução foi reinstalar uma outra distro que no caso funcionou bem, xubuntu 14.04 lts. Pode parecer tolice, e até acho que é, mas funcionou e isto que importa.
