Ubuntu 10.04 Não atualiza para ubuntu 10.10

Olá , não sei o que está havendo com meu ubuntu sempre que tento atualizar ele dá erro , já tentei pela internet e pelo dvd e nada dá certo
dei um print para explicar melhor:

fiz alguns procedimentos através do forum do ubuntu mais nada consegui resolver (ainda)
Dei um apt-get update, depois apt-get upgrade e se tudo ok, atualize com o apt-get dist-upgrade
fiz isso logo após remover todos os ppas e entradas não-padrões da source-list original, e não sei mais o que fazer.
se alguém poder complementar meus conhecimentos e ajudar ...agradeço desde já

Abra o 'Canais de Software', verifique se na aba 'Atualizações' está marcado: 'Lançamento Normal', em 'Atualização de Lançamento'.
Acedito que não esteja assim, pois essa versão do Ubuntu-10.4 é LTS(Long Term Support).

Tem certeza que quer atualizar a versão? Sair de uma versão que terá 3 anos de atualizações sem precisar reintalar uma nova a cada 6 meses? Bom, é com você.

Outra coisa, recomendo que faça uma instalação do zero.
Mas se quiser tentar, aplique no terminal: update-manager -d -c
Siga as instruções do Gerenciador de Atualizações.

Retorne pra relatar sua experiência.

fiz os comandos sugeridos e foi reportado esse erro no terminal

No terminal: sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

Eu não atualizo versão pelo seguinte motivo:
Como em outros sistemas, o upgrade direto de uma versão para outra é sempre um processo passível de problemas. O grande problema é que (por simples falta de mãos de obra suficiente) os upgrades são testados apenas em configurações comuns, onde o sistema é usado sem grandes modificações. Entretanto, na prática é comum que você use um conjunto de pacotes muito diferente do original, com muitos dos programas originais substituídos por outros, somado coma instalação de vários programas adicionais. Isso faz com que o trabalho do atualizador seja muito mais complicado e os resultados mais imprevisíveis, fazendo com que a atualização apresente defeitos diversos ou mesmo falhe completamente em alguns casos específicos.

Por isso sempre faço instalação limpa de cada nova versão!

já que você tem o cd do 10.10, não seria mais seguro, rápido e confiavél formatar denovo com o U10.10?
Como o clodoaldops falou, instalacao limpa..

Pinduvoz, não precisei do 'sudo'.
Quando apliquei o comando, estando com a versão 10.10, disponibilizou a versão 11.4.

Não funcionou a troca de repositórios. Como eu avia imaginado (adicionar o repositório do Maverick geraria uma quebra de pacotes) e foi o que aconteceu , por isso retornei para o repositório original. ainda sem sucesso com a atualização de distro.
mas ainda assim obrigado pela ajuda!
quem quiser sugerir algo a mais não exite! aguardo respostas...
