Olá, boa tarde a todos.
Estou com um problema já faz alguns dias.
Instalei o ubuntu Server 16.04 em uma máquina de 16GB de ram ,250GB HD(SSD) com um processador i5-3330 3.0 e mais dois HDs de 1TB (para armazenar os backups).
Minha intenção era colocar os backups da empresa nesta máquina e mais pra frente instalara o bacula e configura-lo (Coisa que ainda tenho que estudar), mas por enquanto devido a uma urgência eu adicionei a máquina no meu AD ( utilizado o tutorial do eabreu https://www.vivaolinux.com.br/artigo/Ingressar-desktop-GNU-Linux-no-dominio-Active-Directory-do-Wind... e fiz um compartilhamento dos discos , consigo acessar, copiar, criar pastas e arquivos mas quando vou transferir o meu backup ( que possui por volta de 50 GB) a máquina trava completamente, já utilizei o xfce e cheguei a pensar que o problema poderia ter sido com ele ai desinstalei e reinstalei o ubuntu server sem interface mas nada o problema continua.

Detalhe que o arquivo é transferido de uma estação windows, e notei também que no momento da transferência o cache ocupa toda a memória livre disponível no ubuntu.

esta tela apareceu quando eu estava na frente do servidor ( in loco) ai consegui encontrar esses dados no kern.log
mas já descarto problema com samba
alguém ai tem uma luz!

Parace realmente que esta lhe dando problemas a nivel de Kernel...
Eu tentaria o seguinte:

1° - Atualizar o kernel para ultimo possível(acha pela internet os .deb, amenos que seu kernel seja customizado por c)
2° - Caso ainda problemas, usuário outra distro(CentOS por exemplo)
3°- Ou iria virtualizar o servidor com ESXi

não consegui identificar se existe algum erro de disco !
mas ai vai como está o meu arquivo fstab(/etc/fstab)

Faça uma transferência, aguarde um pouco(antes de travar claro) execute e poste aqui:

como eu estava acessando via SSH o comando HTOP ficou congelado na tela assim que o servidor parou, permitindo que eu desse um print.

A sua saída do comando que pedi esta faltando muita coisa, impossível só ter essas linhas, poste todas por favor.
A Imagem não ajuda por preciso de todos os processo(como mencionei acima).

Por aquele TOP ali que vc postou o servidor estava Tranquilo.
Faça assim:
Execute o teste novamente.
E execute varios "top" como abaixo só mudando o arquivo de destino, isso para vermos se conforme o processo de transferência esta sendo executa os recursos do servidos estão sendo drenados..



sudo top -b -d 1 -n 1 &>  /home/TOP1.txt # Em 10% 

sudo top -b -d 1 -n 1 &>  /home/TOP2.txt # 20%

sudo top -b -d 1 -n 1 &>  /home/TOP3.txt # 30%

sudo top -b -d 1 -n 1 &>  /home/TOP4.txt # 40% por ai....

Mais algumas perguntas:

Quando o servidor trava, ele ainda responde na rede como a ping ou ssh por exemplo ?
Quando o servidor trava, na console(fisicamente ou em VM) , a algum erro em tela ?
