Conexão internet via cabo

Boa tarde a todos. Antes de mais nada, sou pouco conhecedor do Linux. Utilizo o Kubuntu 18.04 em um hardware:
- Processador 1 x AMD Athlon(tm) 64 x2 Dual core Processor 4200+Memória de 2GiB(Ram).
Paca mãe Asus M2NX.
Meu problema: Não consigo realizar a conexão via cabo e, qualquer quando o cabo não está conectado o Pc indica que está conectado. Isso é possível?
Grato, antecipadamente, pelas análises e orientações. Ah, por gentileza, usem uma linguagem que eu possa compreender.

Ola,

entre no terminal e digite, separadamente, os comandos lspci e ip addr show. Mostre o resultado de cada comando.
