Você vai conseguir instalar esse bendito modem. Eu mesmo tenho um desse mais atualmente uso conexão 3G, então não vou lembra de como eu consegui coloca ele pra discar. Só lembro que demorei na época quase um ano para deixar o bixinho funcionando mais agora é mais fácil.

Amigão, eu também vivo esse dilema aqui na minha cidade da internet discada !
Triste para nos usuários linux, que temos que quebrar cabeça !
Esse seu modelo de Modem é o mesmo do meu, então acredito que vá funcionar !
Só tem um porem, a ultima vez que testei eu usava o Ubuntu 8.10 !
e a versão do Driver era a v29.
Como mudou a versão do kernel também muda a do driver, então use a versão v30 em diante !

Se não funcionar experimente baixar a versão v29 e teste numa sessão live no 8.10.

P.s:
Depois que voce instalar tudo dê o comando.
#/etc/init.d/sl-modem* restart
Usei o "*" porque não lembro o resto do nome !

Cara, eu adoro esse site. Respota rápidas. Sempre tem alguém disposto a ajudar. Talvez eu esteja apanhando mais pq este modem tá instalado em um notebook V42 da Positivo (porcaria!!!).
Mas veio com um sitema linux qnd comprei e o modem funcionava blz. Vou tentar com esse ...30 pra ver se dá certo. Meu ubuntu é o 9.04. Mas vlw pela atenção pessoal.

Pois modem, em notebook eles usam portas interrupções diferentes e bla bla...
é bem complicado !
+ não custa nada tentar, aliás o modem ja veio até instalado em outra distribuição !

Se não der certo tente busca a distribuição antiga ou entre em contatos com o suporte tecnico deles !

é negada até agora nada. Reparem q nem o lspci consegue listar o meu modem. E a porcaria da Positivo não fornece os Cd´s de restauração. Mas vlw ae. Vou continuar pesquisando.
