Sua placa está instalada. Basta configurar. Pode ser que esteja hard/soft blocked. O que aparece em

"rfkill list"

??

Primeiro você deve observar se realmente é a falta de firmware, caso seja verídico vamos instalar o mesmo .
1-> Instale o wireless-tools : aptitude install wireless-tools
2-> verifique o adaptador wireless
iwconfig -> A interface wlan refere-se a wireless

3-> ifconfig wlan0 up : Se aparecer o prompt de comando e não retornar nenhum erro, sua interface está pronta para operar, mas pode
está faltando alguns firmaware e será exibida uma mensagem do tipo : SIOCSIFFLAGS: arquivo ou diretório não encontrado

4-> aptitude install firmware-linux-nonfree

5-> Execute novamente o comando ifconfig e verifique se a interface passou a funcionar corretamente
ifconfig wlan0 up

6-> Caso receba novamente a mensagem : SIOCSIFFLAGS: arquivo ou diretório não encontrado
utilize o lspci | grep -i '(network|wireless)'
O retorno vai ser do tipo :
Network controll : Intel Corporation PRO/wireless 3945ABG

No caso trata-se de uma interface 3945ABG, agora procure o firmware da interface com o apt-cache

7-> apt-cache search firmware | grep firmware | sort
Procure o pacote firmware mais adeguado a sua interface do apt-cache search
RESULTADO : firmware-iwlwifi - Binary firmware for intel wireless 3945

8-> Instale o mesmo e veja se a conxão está ok
ifconfig wlan0 up
ifoncig wlan0

utilizei os comandos (apt-cache search) porem a resposta foi (E: Tem de fornecer pelo menos um padrão de busca) como sou novo em linux creio que eu não deva ter feito algo corretamente, mas de qualquer forma valeu pela resposta.

# ifconfig wlan0 down
# ifconfig wlan1 up

Se reconecte a internet e veja se vai de boa.
