Video Onboard não funciona no Ubuntu 9.10

Muito bom dia! A Todos
Apresentou um problema na minha placa de video Nvidia GF 6600 GT, retirei a placa do PC.
Só que minha placa mãe ECS K8M800-M2, tem video Onboard... porém o Sistema Operacional Ubuntu não ligou... fica um pontinho no canto do monitor piscando como se fosse um cursor...
Já utilizei esta Dica, mais não funcionou...
Entrar no Modo Recovery Mode
"sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg"

FIZ A DICA QUE VOCÊ ENVIOU... MAIS NÃO DEU CERTO!!! O LINK QUE VOCÊ ENVIOU NÃO ABRIU...

AGORA É O SEGUINTE QUANDO ENTRO NO MODO (RECOVERY MODE) APARECE ESTAS OPÇÕES:

CLEAN >> TRY TO MAKE FREE SPACE
DPKG >> REPAIR BROKEN PACKAGES
FSCK >> FILE SYSTEM CHECK

ROOT >> DROP TO ROOT SHELL PROMPT

QUAL DESTAS OPÇÕES DEVO UTILIZAR, PREZADO AMIGO CLAUDIO....???

MINHA PLACA MÃE É UMA "ECS" ELITEGROUP K8M800-M2 VIDEO-ONBOARD.

Bruuuu nhaca (grito de guerra dos índios caiowas) Vamos lá.
Sem magia: Você estava coma placa da nvidia instalado e funcinando. Tirou a placa e ligou o cabo do monitor no vídeo on board. Certo?

Você não tirou o driver da nvidia do ubuntu. E pergunto se sua placa de video on board está ativada no setup da BIOS ou se está desativada, aí é que não funciona nada mesmo.

Para trocar o driver: Um boot com um livedc pode ser do ubuntu mesmo.
Defina uma senha para o root no menu sistema>administração>usuários e grupos >botão direito em cima do root. e defina uma senha fácil de lembrar.

Depois no terminal menu aplicações>acessórios>terminal
su
ou sudo gedit /media/sda1/etc/X11/xorg.conf

Verifique a partição está montada no ponto acima (/media/sda1 ??), se não estiver acerte o endereço na linha de comando.

Uma vez aberto o arquivo texto xorg.conf procure a secção video ou screen e procure
driver "nvidia"

troque por
driver "via"
Salve o arquivo, e rebute a máquina removendo o cd

Se não funcionar apele para o
driver "vesa"

O driver vesa é um coringa que fuciona com qualquer chipset em 2D. è muito bom, só não é 3D.
Também o seu chipset via não é uma aceleradora.

Fiz a dica que você enviou porém não funcionou!!
Quando digito: "sudo gedit /media/sda1/etc/X11/xorg.conf
aparece uma tela de terminal, só que não tem nenhuma linha de comando para alterar... de acorco com o que você informou... está em branco... você sabe o motivo???

A partição que contém o diretório / (raíz) não está montada no ponto de montagem /media/sda1 ou não está montada ou está montada em outro lugar.
Precisa achar onde está montada ou montar
sudo mount -t reiserfs /dev/sda1 /media
O sistema de arquivo tem que ser correto, em geral ou é reiserfs ou ext3

Instalei o Driver nvidia 910 no ubuntu studio 9.10.
Fiquei se acesso ao Ubuntu. Não abre mais.
Posso resolver isto ou tenho de reinstalar...
Sou iniciante e não sei nada dos códigos Linux. Sou apenas utilizador.

Apos apanhar muito consegui fazer com que o ubuntu 9.10, com placa onboard Via/S3 - Unichrome, funcionasse com resolução menor do que 800x600
Abra o terminal com root e digite " apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-openchrome"
Após, digite "gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf"
Apague todo o conteúdo e cole o seguinte texto:

Na reinicialização vai dar um erros mas depois desaparecem (no meu PC desapareceu...)

Se não conseguir iniciar o Ubuntu 9.10 em modo gráfico, coloque o PC para dar boot pelo Cd do Ubuntu e comece uma sessão Live-CD.
Em locais, abra o Sistema de Arquivos (HD) onde está instalado Ubuntu.
Abra o terminal e digite: sudo /media/disk/etc/X11/xorg.conf
Apague todo o conteúdo e cole este texto:
# xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.

a dica do colega foi batata, quanto a instalcao do novo pacote, o meu sistema informou que ja tinha uma versao mais recente, entao desistalei e reinstalei o pacote indicado e copiei o conteudo para xorg.conf, foi um sucesso, obrigado
