Ubuntu-14.10 foi lançado em outubro/2014 e há está sem suporte desde julho/2015
Use ubuntu-14.04-lts que terá suporte até abril/2015

Só retificando o que o colega Clodoaldo informou: Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS terá suporte até 04/2019.

Cara tentei esse comando sudo "ifconfig wlan0 up", ele fala assim "Operacao nao pode ser realizada devido ao RF-kill"

e quanto a versão eu atualizei para 15.04, e sabe o que é estranho é que dei dual boot com win 7 e no nele funciona perfeitamente.
