Skype 4 - Instalação no Ubuntu 12.4 LTS

Guia para iniciantes no GNU/Linux sobre como instalar o Skype 4 no Ubuntu 12.4 LTS e resolver as suas dependências de instalação.

Bom pessoal, resolvi postar o procedimento, uma vez que a instalação tem algumas dependências e não localizei um tutorial adequado.

Primeiramente, remova completamente o antigo Skype:

# apt-get remove skype

Ou:

# dpkg --purge skype

Agora verifique se o seu repositório (sources.list) está atualizado. O que eu possuía não tinha as dependências, então peguei o original no site do Ubuntu:

# deb cdrom:[Ubuntu 12.04 _Precise Pangolin_ - Release i386]/ Precise main restricted
# See http://help.ubuntu.com/community/UpgradeNotes for how to upgrade to
# newer versions of the distribution.

Atualize com o comando:

# apt-get update

Vamos começar a instalação. Baixe o arquivo ".deb" no site oficial:

http://skype.com/intl/pt-br/get-skype/on-your-computer/linux

Dê as devidas permissões:

chmod +x skype-ubuntu_4.0.0.7-1_i386.deb

Ao tentar instalar na primeira vez, poderá apresentar a dependência da libxss, e para instalar esta serão solicitadas várias outras dependências. Então faça o seguinte, abra o terminal e execute o comando para resolver as dependências:

# aptitude install libxss-dev

Instalará todas as dependências. Após finalizar, instale o Skype:

# dpkg -i skype-ubuntu_4.0.0.7-1_i386

Ele instalará bem rápido.

Pronto, o seu Skype 4 está instalado.

Não entendo o chmod. sudo dpkg -i não seria mais apropriado?

Com o chmod e para dar permição para todos usuarios executarem, se instalar como root com o dpkg outros usuarios não executarão.
