1. Servidor de Internet? [RESOLVIDO]

Oi, sou novato no Linux e pra variar eu gostaria de cair fora do Ruindows. Estou com o Slackware 10.2 e gostaria de saber qual a melhor forma de configurar um servidor de Internet Wireless no meu Bairro.
Procurei e não encontrei algo mais objetivo na internet. Será que alguém poderia me dar uma dica... lembrando que sou iniciante e também não preciso de algo muito robusto, embora eu ouvi dizer que robusto é o sobrenome do Linux se tratando de servidores.

Cara tem uma distribuição que acho interessante e estou utilizando para compartilhamento de internet wireless.

Ela se chama endian


Endian Firewall description


Endian Firewall is a turn-key linux security distribution based on IPCop.

Backups:
· Backups can now be stored to and recovered from attached USB mass storage devices. It is also possible to schedule automatic backups and to send encrypted backups via email.

Email notifications:
· Emails can be sent automatically for predefined events.
HTTP proxy time based access control:

Intrusion Prevention:

Port forwarding rewrite:
· In version 2.3 it is possible to add port-forwards from any zone (only from the RED zone previously). Port forwarding without NAT is now also supported.
Quality of Service:
· Traffic Shaping has been replaced by a fully configurable Quality of Service module. QoS devices, classes and rules can be defined.
SNMP support:
· Basic SNMP support has been added.
SMTP proxy web interface rewrite:
· The web interface of the SMTP proxy has been rewritten with focus on usability.
VLAN support (IEEE 802.1Q trunking):
· It is now possible to create VLANs on every interface. The VLAN interfaces can be used to distinguish connections in the same zone.

Bom Dia,

Amigo creio que seu problema seja, compartilhar internet pelo bairro e distribuir a banda que vc tem. Certo?

Poderia começar a criar um firewall para compartilhar a banda e criar um Squid autenticado ou transparente mesmo mas liberando banda apenas para usuarios cadastrados. Procure ate mesmo aki no vol sobre o Squid Autenticado ou Via MAC Address.

sim, da forma que o vinigren disse da certo, vc pode utilizar qualquer distro para isso, inclusive o slack, eu gosto do debian, para mim foi mais facil me acostumar...
com squid e IPtables vc vai fazer o que vc kiser com a sua net..
