Meu Sabayon, com Kernel 5.7:

Tenho uma velha webcam, Z-Star, com chipset vimicro, tá plugada na porta USB:


$ lsusb | grep -i webcam

ela usa módulos de kernel gspca_zc3xx .

A câmera é reconhecida mas só dá uma tela preta, nenhuma imagem aparece no Kamoso, equivalente KDE do Cheese.

Essa minha não há meio, com kernel 5.7? Vou ter que recompilar o kernel com os módulos?

Fiz uma busca na net e são vários os problemas desse tipo nos kérneis novos....

Às acontece conflito entre drivers. O driver genérico usb tenta responder tb, ou mesmo o uvcvideo. Poder ser o caso de dar um modinfo gspca_zc3xx ou backlistar uvcvideo

Primeirio seria bom se o sistema reclama erro
dmesg | grep usb
O driver tem um parâmetro force-sensor q pode ser usado para forçar o driver, mas depende de qual sensor a webcam usa. Acho que
dmesg | grep usb | grep sensor
mostra.

Tente usar modprobe gspca_zc3xx caso apareça um stdout provavelmente o modulo não está funcionando direito

Descobri algo estranho.
a câmera é reconhecida, mas nada aparece no Cheese e no equivalente Cheese do KDE, o Kamoso.

Mas um teste de câmera na web, no navegador, ela é enxergada e funciona.

Também funciona em GUVCVIEW. vejam imagem.

Só não funciona em Cheese e em Kamoso.
Não testei no Skype, pq não uso, irei testar no google meet.

Descobri algo estranho.
a câmera é reconhecida, mas nada aparece no Cheese e no equivalente Cheese do KDE, o Kamoso.

Mas um teste de câmera na web, no navegador, ela é enxergada e funciona.

Curiosamente isso acontece no laptop da minha esposa só que lá é windows.
Considerando isso imagino que o problema está relacionado ao udev.

É, a câmera funciona em Google Meet também!

Vou marcar o tópico como resolvido, porque o problema parece sanado. Vou fazer uma Dica ou artigo sobre isso.
