USBs não funcionam no Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

Olá pessoal.

Recentemente migrei do Lubuntu 16.04 lts para o 20.04, só que as portas usb não estão funcionando adequadamente. A máquina tem 12 usb, sendo 4 usb 3.0 e 8 usb 2.0.

Nenhuma das portas usb 2.0 funcionam, quero dizer, não reconhecem nenhum dispositivo.

Das 4 usb 3.0, duas estão na trazeira e elas só conseguem reconhecer o mouse.

As outras 2 usb 3.0 estão na parte frontal. Elas fazem parte de uma gaveta da Akasa para hd interno. Estas duas portas reconhecem mouse, teclado e pendrive. Mas não conseguem detectar o hd externo.

Eu já testei o Lubuntu 20.04, Xbuntu 20.04 e Mint 20.04. O problema é o mesmo nas 3 distro.

Não é problema de hardware. Tenho um testador de porta usb que indica que a corrente elétrica nas portas está perfeita. A fonte também é boa. O problema começou logo assim que instalei a nova distro. Suspeito do Kernel do Linxu (5.11.0-40 generic). Por acaso alguém sabe como resolver esse problema?


CONFIGURAÇÃO:
Placa mãe: Gigabyte 970A-DS3P
Processador: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T
Memoria: 8GB
Placa de Vídeo: Radeon R7 250 2Gb 128 bits
Sistema Operacional: no momento estou usando o Lubuntu 20.04 lts
Kernel: 5.11.0-40-generic

SETUP/BIOS:
Transferência XHCI: desativado (ativar não resolve o problema)
Transferẽncia EHCI: desativado (ativar não resolve o problema)
Controlador IOMMU: desativado (ativar não resolve o problema)
Boot: only legacy
Legacy USB: auto

Pesquisando na internet eu vi que algumas pessoas conseguiram o resolver o mesmo problema ativando o IOMMU, XHCI, EHCI no setup/bios. No meu caso isso não funcionou.


PACOTES QUE NÃO EXISTEM NO UBUNTU 20.04

Tentei instalar os pacotes usb-ohci, usb-storage e usbcore, mas recebi a seguinte mensagem: “E: impossível encontrar o pacote xxxxxx”

já verificou se há bloqueio no setup da bios?
coloque dipositivos em todas as entradas e rode usb-devices p ver o que aparece. E também dmesg | grep -i usb para ver os logs.

Oi leandropscardua. Obrigado por tentar ajudar. Eu já verifiquei o setup da bios sim. Não encontrei nenhum bloqueio. A máquina funcionava com o Lubuntu 16.04 lts (32 bits) perfeitamente. Quando migrei para o Lubuntu 20.04 lts (64 bits) esse problema do usb apareceu.

vc também fez a parte de configurar GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="iommu=soft" no grub?

Não tinha feito essa alteração ainda.

Depois de fazer a alteração, eu não consigo atualizar o grub. Depois de $ sudo update-grub, eu recebo a seguinte mensagem de erro: /etc/default/grub: #: not found. Mas o arquivo está lá intacto. O que pode ser?
