Log do portage (so a parte que deu erro):

Cara..você está todo zoado..rsrsrsr. 2017b?

Tenta arrumar a hora...

Tenta compilar o pacote desta forma:

MAKEOPTS="-j1" emerge --ask --verbose virtualbox-modules

# rc-update add ntpd

para ver se está funcionando:

# ntpq -p

MAKEOPTS="-j1" emerge --ask --verbose --nodeps virtualbox-modules

se ele instalar, vc instala o virtualbox:

emerge -av virtualbox

Por partes, borá lá:
Sobre a hora, o arquivo
/etc/localtime
é um link para
/usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Sao_paulo
.
A output do
/etc/conf.d/hwclock
:
# Set CLOCK to "UTC" if your Hardware Clock is set to UTC (also known as
# Greenwich Mean Time). If that clock is set to the local time, then
# set CLOCK to "local". Note that if you dual boot with Windows, then
# you should set it to "local".
clock="local"

TIMEZONE="America/Sao_Paulo"

# If you want the hwclock script to set the system time (software clock)
# to match the current hardware clock during bootup, leave this
# commented out.
# However, you can set this to "NO" if you are running a modern kernel
# and using NTP to synchronize your system clock.
#clock_hctosys="YES"

# If you do not want to set the hardware clock to the current system
# time (software clock) during shutdown, set this to no.
clock_systohc="YES"

# If you wish to pass any other arguments to hwclock during bootup,
# you may do so here. Alpha users may wish to use --arc or --srm here.
clock_args=""

emerge virtualbox

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild N ] app-emulation/virtualbox-modules-5.1.22::gentoo USE="-pax_kernel" 0 KiB
[ebuild N ] app-emulation/virtualbox-5.1.22-r1::gentoo USE="alsa java lvm opengl pam python qt5 sdk udev -debug -doc -headless -libressl -pax_kernel -pulseaudio -vboxwebsrv -vnc" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7" 51.377 KiB

Total: 2 packages (2 new), Size of downloads: 51.377 KiB

Would you like to merge these packages? [Yes/No]

emerge -s virtualbox

ví um Bug do Gentoo:

https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394219

Onde essas compilações erradas do virtualbox-modules, tem a ver com a versão do kernel....

lá, eles usam duas soluções;;;

USE="-pax_kernel" emerge -av virtualbox-modules

veja também isto:

https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=218616

http://gpo.zugaina.org/sys-apps/portage

No funtoo, a 4 meses, já estavam usando ebuild 2.4:

https://github.com/funtoo/ports-2017/tree/master/sys-apps/portage

USE="-pax_kernel" MAKEOPTS="-j1" emerge --ask --verbose virtualbox-modules

emerge -p =app=emulation/virtualbox-modules-5.0.40
!!! '=app=emulation/virtualbox-modules-5.0.40' is not a valid package atom.
!!! Please check ebuild(5) for full details.

eix virtualbox-modules
* app-emulation/virtualbox-modules
