Olá amigo,
Você compilou os fontes ou usou um pacote .deb. Eu sei que em algum lugar existe esse pacote em algum repositório, só não sei aonde. :-)
Se compilou os fontes veja se não existe problema de permissão.
Abaixo segue meu script que usou no slackware:
